The Taliban leader, Mullah Hibatullah, has ordered all officials in military departments to wear official uniforms. This directive has been accepted by deputy ministers and Taliban forces in Kabul, but Taliban members in Kandahar have rejected it.
A source from a Taliban military meeting in Kandahar told Chiragh TV that Kandahari Taliban have threatened not to wear uniforms until the Acting Minister of Interior, Sirajuddin Haqqani, starts wearing one himself.
According to the source, commanders of the city’s police districts, the Kandahar police chief, the head of security, and other local Taliban officials in military roles are refusing to follow their leader’s order. They insist that unless Sirajuddin Haqqani himself wears a uniform, they will not either.
