U.S. Federal Court Allows Trump to End TPS for Afghan Refugees

A U.S. federal court has granted the government permission to terminate the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program for Afghan and Cameroonian nationals.

This decision came after the Trump administration argued that Afghanistan and Cameroon no longer meet the criteria for the TPS program.

The court stated that there is no evidence suggesting the Trump administration acted unlawfully in making this decision.

As a result of the ruling, approximately 14,600 Afghans and 7,900 Cameroonians are now at risk of deportation from the United States.

Shawn VanDiver, head of the Afghan evacuation program, condemned the decision, calling it a political move and stating it is a betrayal of the Afghans who risked their lives for the United States.
