On Tuesday, the National Freedom Front issued a statement claiming responsibility for an attack the previous night on Mullah Najibullah Ghafoori, head of the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Kunduz province. The attack reportedly took place in the Khan Abad Bandar area of Kunduz city.
According to the statement, two Taliban members from the Ministry were killed in the operation. However, the group stated that there is no confirmed information yet regarding the death or injury of Ghafoori himself.
The statement added that the attack was carried out in response to the Taliban’s harassment and detention of Afghan women.
The anti-Taliban group emphasized that such operations will continue in defense of Afghan women’s rights.
