Fidai: The Taliban Have No Right to Enforce Faith Through Force

Former governor and politician Halim Fidai, in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, referred to the Taliban’s actions of beating and arresting women with sticks, stating that such acts are neither part of Afghan culture nor Islamic values.

According to him, the Taliban only have the right to announce that hijab should be observed—not to enforce it through violence.

Addressing the Taliban, Fidai says:
“You only have the right to announce that hijab should be observed. It is then up to the people whether they follow it or not. You do not have the authority to impose faith on people through force or coercion.”
