Residents of Panjshir province told Cheragh Television on Saturday that the Taliban’s Department for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice is not allowing women and girls to leave their homes without wearing a burqa.
According to them, restrictions and pressures from the Taliban are increasing day by day. They say that even though they already observe hijab, the Taliban insist that wearing a burqa is mandatory.
Residents of Panjshir added that these restrictions, amid harsh economic and psychological conditions, have further worsened the mental and financial well-being of women, and their concerns about the future are growing.
They told Cheragh Television that, in order to travel, they are forced to borrow burqas from neighbors. They said that in this fragile economic situation, the Taliban’s decision has made their lives even more difficult
