Al Jazeera Television has confirmed that five of its journalists were killed near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City as a result of an Israeli airstrike. The deceased include Anas Al-Sharif, Mohammad Qureiqah, cameraman Ibrahim Zahir, Mohammad Noufal, and Momen Aliwa.
According to reports, the journalists were sitting in a tent near the hospital when the strike occurred.
Al Jazeera officials stated that a total of seven people were killed in the attack. The network described the strike as a deliberate and blatant assault on press freedom. Al Jazeera’s Executive Director, Mohammad Moawad, said that Anas Al-Sharif was the only voice conveying the situation in Gaza to the world.
The network also noted that it had issued warnings weeks earlier that Israeli forces were targeting its journalists.
