🇦🇫 Taliban Seek Clarification from UNAMA Over Latest Report

The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has requested clarification from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) regarding its recent report on the alleged mistreatment and abuse of newly returned Afghan refugees. The Taliban have described the report as inconsistent with reality.
Zia Ahmad Takal, spokesperson for the Taliban-controlled Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that thousands of Afghan refugees have returned from countries including Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey. However, UNAMA interviewed only a limited number of individuals and based its report on their cases.
He added that a commission has been formed under the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with participation from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the Ministry of Interior, and the General Directorate of Intelligence, to assess the report.
According to Takal, if the commission finds the report to be inaccurate, the Taliban will formally seek clarification from UNAMA on the matter
