According to a statement issued by the Taliban-led administration in Panjshir Province, the group has sold 2,539 carats of emerald extracted from local mines.
The statement further notes that the emeralds were sold through a public bidding process for a total value of $347,850 USD to both domestic and international traders.
It adds that the extracted emeralds were presented to a supervisory committee for inspection and packaging prior to sale, in order to ensure transparency and trust in the bidding process.
