UNESCO, in its latest report, states that due to social and political pressures, 80% of female journalists in Afghanistan have been removed from their positions in the media sector.
The organization expressed concern that media restrictions have intensified since the Taliban’s return to power. As a result, not only have many media outlets been shut down, but the situation of female journalists has also become increasingly alarming under Taliban rule
