Taliban Claims Arrest of ISIS Member in Kabul

The Taliban’s Ministry of Interior has announced that its forces conducted an operation on Thursday evening targeting a hideout of the ISIS group in the Barik Ab area of Bagram district, Kabul province. During the raid, one member of the group was reportedly captured alive.
According to the statement, authorities also seized a vehicle and three rockets in connection with the arrest. The statement further notes that ISIS had been planning an attack to coincide with the Taliban’s Independence Day celebrations.
It is worth noting that Pakistan and several other countries have previously claimed that ISIS militants are active in Afghanistan—claims the Taliban had denied. However, the Taliban has now acknowledged conducting operations against an ISIS cell.
