Pakistan’s representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, stated during a Security Council meeting that ISIS now has a significant presence in Afghanistan alongside TTP and Baloch militants.
Ahmad added that these militant groups are operating in Afghanistan with the consultation of the Taliban, who are reportedly planning joint operations with them. These operations often result in terrorist attacks across the region, with many of them targeting Pakistani territory.
According to him, the presence of these groups in Afghanistan poses not only a serious threat to Pakistan’s security but also endangers regional stability and has raised concerns internationally.
It’s worth noting that Pakistani officials have previously reported the presence of militant groups in Afghanistan, though the Taliban have consistently denied these claims.
