On Saturday, a statement released by the Taliban’s Supreme Court reported that two individuals were publicly flogged in Jaghatu district of Ghazni province on charges of having illicit relations.
According to the statement, a woman and a man were each given 39 lashes and sentenced to three months of imprisonment.
It should be noted that summary trials by the Taliban have become increasingly common in Afghanistan. International human rights organizations have called on the Taliban to uphold human dignity and to cease acts of violence against people
