The head of police in Tehran province, Abbas Ali Mohammadian, stated that so far, approximately 70,000 Afghans who lacked legal residency documents have been deported from the city.
He emphasized that the deportation process of Afghan refugees continues, with an average of 700 to 800 undocumented Afghans being arrested and expelled from Tehran each day.
According to police information, in addition to those deported, some Afghans living in Tehran have voluntarily left Iran and returned to Afghanistan due to unemployment and increasing security pressures.
It should be noted that since the recent conflict with Israel, the Iranian government has deported around 1.7 million Afghan refugees back to Afghanistan.
