German police have arrested and charged an Afghan man in Munich for deliberately causing civilian casualties in a car attack. The incident occurred on February 13 of this year in central Munich during a workers’ union protest.
According to the German court, the attacker is 24 years old and intentionally drove his vehicle into people. As a result of the attack, a two-year-old girl and her mother were killed, and 44 others were injured.
Prosecutors emphasized that the motive behind the attack was religious extremism. They stated that the accused believed he needed to avenge the suffering of Muslims in Islamic countries and targeted civilians in Germany as part of that belief.
