🌍 OCHA: 44 Humanitarian Programs Suspended in July Due to Taliban Interference

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated in its latest report that 44 humanitarian programs in Afghanistan were suspended in July of this year due to Taliban interference and obstruction. Additionally, one health center was shut down.
According to the report, the interference included demands for staff lists, access to confidential information, obstruction of program implementation, and restrictions on women’s access to services.
OCHA also noted that the Taliban have attempted to intervene in the hiring and procurement processes of aid organizations and have delayed some formal agreements necessary for project execution.
Furthermore, the Taliban have imposed restrictions on the movement of female staff, creating significant challenges for them.
It’s worth mentioning that OCHA had previously warned that humanitarian activities in Afghanistan were facing delays and disruptions due to Taliban interference.
