According to a statement released by the Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation, on Saturday, 6,209 Afghan refugees returned from Pakistan and 1,677 from Iran.
The statement notes that Pakistani authorities deported these refugees through the border crossings of Torkham, Spin Boldak, Angoor Adda, and Bahramcha.
Similarly, the 1,677 Afghan refugees from Iran were sent back via the Islam Qala and Abrisham border points.
Meanwhile, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reports that approximately 2.3 million Afghan refugees have returned from Iran and Pakistan so far.
