Former U.S. intelligence officer Sara Adams recently stated that Afghanistan is currently the most secure hiding place for the Al-Qaeda network on a global scale.
According to her, Al-Qaeda members are now engaged in propaganda efforts aimed at diverting international attention away from Afghanistan, trying to portray their leadership as being based in Iran instead—so that their leaders can remain safe in Afghanistan.
She urged the international community to take action against these terrorist groups within Afghanistan, warning that failure to do so could pose a major threat to global security in the future.
These remarks come amid growing concerns that, since the Taliban’s return to power, the presence of armed terrorist groups in Afghanistan has increased. International observers have repeatedly raised alarms about this trend, although the Taliban continue to deny such claims.
