World Suicide Prevention Day: Suicide Cases in Afghanistan Have Risen More Than Ever

September 10th of the current Gregorian year is observed globally as World Suicide Prevention Day. This day comes at a time when the rate of suicide incidents in Afghanistan has reached an all-time high, with cases being recorded every week.
Since the return to power of the Taliban in Afghanistan, the suicide rate among youth has increased due to various factors.
According to health professionals, the rise in suicide cases is linked to hunger, poverty, domestic violence, unemployment, economic hardship, psychological issues, and similar causes.
Citizens are calling on the Taliban to create job opportunities for young people so that the youth can be engaged in work and diverted from suicidal thoughts.
In a recent directive, the Taliban have banned funeral and mourning ceremonies for individuals who commit suicide.
