Local sources in Zabul told a reporter from Chiragh Television on Thursday that a young woman committed suicide on Wednesday in the second district of Qalat city, the provincial capital.
According to the source, the girl consumed poison and died.
The source added that her father had arranged her marriage to an older man in exchange for money, which led her to take her own life.
So far, the Taliban have not commented on the incident.
This comes amid reports that the Taliban have imposed restrictions on funeral and mourning ceremonies for individuals who die by suicide in Afghanistan.
