The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) stated in its latest report that Afghan refugees returning to Afghanistan are in urgent need of humanitarian aid.
According to the report, since the beginning of 2025, approximately two million Afghan refugees have returned from Pakistan and Iran to Afghanistan, putting significant pressure on the country’s limited aid resources.
The report also highlights that restrictions on female workers and internet services in Afghanistan have negatively impacted UNHCR’s ability to deliver assistance.
The organization has appealed for more than $250 million in aid to improve the situation of Afghan returnees.
Additionally, UNHCR has urged neighboring countries to act cautiously in light of Afghanistan’s current crisis.
