Mohammad Ibrahim Alkozai, former advisor to President Ashraf Ghani, wrote on his Facebook page that the Taliban should embrace party-based and parliamentary politics, following the example of their spiritual mentor, Fazlur Rehman.
He added that after analyzing the Taliban leadership’s recent speeches, it has become clear to him that they are under intense pressure and have realized they lack the capacity to govern effectively—suggesting that they may soon face collapse.
According to Alkozai, these pressures will only increase, and the Taliban have two options: either pave the way for inclusive elections by forming a political party, or be completely overthrown by the Afghan people, leading to the restoration of a republican system in Afghanistan.
