The Taliban met with Afghan detainees in Belarus and promised their release.
Following the Taliban’s return to power, thousands of Afghans were forced by poverty to undertake illegal journeys to European and other countries in search of a piece of bread—many are arrested or even killed along the way.
In a statement issued by the Taliban embassy in Russia, it was announced that a delegation was sent to Belarus to closely assess the condition of Afghan detainees there.
The statement says that the Taliban delegation met with Belarusian officials and pledged to secure the release of the Afghan prisoners.
It further adds that once released, the Afghan detainees will be returned to Afghanistan
