Taliban Arrest 9 People for Attempting Illegal Entry into Iran

Since the Taliban’s return to power, many Afghans—facing hunger, unemployment, and economic hardship—have been forced to travel illegally to foreign countries, often risking their lives along the way.
Iran and Pakistan continue to deport thousands of Afghan refugees daily, sending them back to Afghanistan.
Recently, the Taliban arrested nine individuals in Ghurian district of Herat province who were attempting to cross into Iran illegally.
According to a statement released by the Taliban, these individuals had planned to travel to Iran through smuggling routes.
The arrests come at a time when Iran has accelerated the deportation of undocumented Afghan migrants from its territory.
