United Kingdom Provides £1 Million in Emergency Aid to Afghan Earthquake Victims

In a statement released on Tuesday, the UK Foreign Office announced an emergency aid package of £1 million to support those affected by the earthquake in Afghanistan’s Kunar, Laghman, and Nangarhar provinces.
UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy described the news of the earthquake in eastern Afghanistan as deeply saddening. He stated: “The United Kingdom stands with the people of Afghanistan, and this emergency funding will be delivered through humanitarian organizations in the country to ensure vital health services and emergency supplies reach those most affected.”
The ministry added that the aid will be distributed through the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to provide healthcare and emergency equipment to the victims.
