⚖️ Faiq: Killing former Afghan soldiers is a war crime

Nasir Ahmad Faiq, Afghanistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, expressed sorrow on his X (formerly Twitter) account over the reported killings of former Afghan military personnel.
He stated that recently, former soldiers deported from Iran and Pakistan have been arrested, beaten, tortured, and killed by the Taliban in Afghanistan.
According to Faiq, the killing of former soldiers and officers is against both Islamic and humanitarian principles, and those responsible must be held accountable.
He emphasized that such actions constitute a major human rights violation and the perpetrators must face justice.
It’s worth noting that several international humanitarian organizations have also reported that former soldiers and officials deported from neighboring countries have been detained and subjected to various punishments by the Taliban, including execution—claims which the Taliban deny.
