At the United Nations, Jawhara bint Abdulaziz Al-Suwaidi, Deputy Permanent Representative of Qatar, stated during her speech in Geneva that Afghan girls must be granted the right to education. She emphasized that the issue of Afghan girls’ education and rights should be a core concern for countries around the world, and that voices must be raised in support of their rights.
She said that the restrictions imposed on Afghan women are contrary to international values and human rights.
According to her, the rights to education and employment for women must be a foundational part of building Afghanistan’s future.
Al-Suwaidi added that the international community should assist in Afghanistan’s reconstruction, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the continuation of dialogue among Afghan parties to help create conditions for lasting peace.
