The Afghan media support organization NAI has condemned the Taliban’s ban on visual media in Panjshir, calling it a clear obstruction to freedom of expression.
NAI stated that over the past four years of Taliban rule, all legal frameworks supporting media and free speech have been dismantled.
According to the organization, many active media outlets were shut down during the republican era, hundreds of journalists fled the country, and 90% of female journalists lost their jobs.
NAI added that currently only around 200 female journalists remain employed in Afghanistan, and even they work under extremely difficult conditions—down from 2,000 previously.
