In a published statement, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) said the Taliban have provided no convincing explanation for the 48-hour shutdown and restoration of all telephone and internet networks across Afghanistan.
UNAMA stated that the internet outage posed serious risks and challenges to the lives of Afghan citizens.
The statement noted that the shutdown disrupted operations at key institutions such as banks, customs offices, and other essential services.
Although services have now returned to normal and commercial air traffic has resumed, UNAMA expressed concern over the Taliban’s silence regarding both the imposition and lifting of the restrictions.
UNAMA reiterated that the Taliban have offered no justification for their actions
