Sky News has reported that Afghanistan is currently facing a severe wave of hunger. According to the report, around 4.7 million women and children across the country are in urgent need of assistance to reduce the level of malnutrition.
The report states that 90% of young children in Afghanistan are currently suffering from food shortages. Additionally, in the northeastern region of the country, child mortality due to malnutrition is increasing day by day.
A Sky News journalist who visited the provincial hospital in Badakhshan said that in the past three months alone, one child has died every three days in the province due to malnutrition. Since the beginning of this year, 53 children have lost their lives in the province, marking a 50% increase compared to the same period last year.
So far, the Taliban’s Ministry of Public Health has not commented on the report.
It is worth noting that due to the decline in international aid, the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan is worsening with each passing day.
