The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has expressed concern over the recent detention of Afghan women and girls in the capital, Kabul.
According to a report published by ABC News, UNAMA stated that between July 16 and 19, the Taliban detained several women and girls across different areas of Kabul, claiming that they were not wearing proper hijab.
UNAMA said:
“This situation contributes to the further isolation of women and girls, creates an atmosphere of fear among them, and erodes public trust.”
