Doctors in Afghanistan report a significant increase in seasonal illnesses among children as temperatures continue to rise across the country.
At Indira Gandhi Children’s Hospital in Kabul, pediatric specialists say a growing number of children are being admitted daily due to heat-related illnesses.
Dr. Mohammad Arif Hassanzai, head of the hospital’s pediatric internal medicine department, stated that severe diarrhea and physical weakness are among the most common conditions affecting children under the age of five.
According to him, out of around 250 daily patients, 16 to 20 or more children are admitted to the hospital each day due to such illnesses.
