Gazeta Izvestia: Taliban Ask U.S. for Joint Inspection of Bagram Airbase

The Russian newspaper Gazeta Izvestia has obtained a document from within the Taliban leadership, revealing that the Taliban have requested the United States to conduct a joint inspection of the Bagram military airbase. This is aimed at convincing former U.S. President Donald Trump that there are no Chinese forces present at the base.

According to the report, this request comes in response to Trump’s statements claiming that China has a presence at Bagram Airbase.

The report suggests that there is a possibility the U.S. might suspend aid to the Taliban, and thus the Taliban are trying to reassure the Americans that no Chinese forces are stationed there.

Sources who shared the document with Gazeta Izvestia said the purpose of this request is a joint investigation of the airbase:

“Acting Taliban Defense Minister Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid has ordered that everything be shown to the Americans to convince them that there are no Chinese at Bagram.”
