On Saturday, August 9, a woman named Golsoom Akbari, a resident of Sari in Iran’s Mazandaran province, confessed to crimes for which she had been arrested in September 2023—namely, the murder of her 11 husbands.
The 37-year-old Iranian woman had married 37 times, including 18 temporary and 19 permanent marriages. All of her husbands are now deceased. In her confession, she stated: “Over the past two decades, I killed my 11 husbands by mixing narcotic and alcoholic substances into their food and drinks. I did this to acquire their wealth and property.”
It is worth noting that following this confession, the likelihood of her receiving a death sentence has increased significantly. However, Iran’s courts have not yet issued an execution order against her.
