On Sunday, August 10, Italian citizens staged protests at the Port of Genoa, successfully halting a Saudi Arabian cargo ship reportedly transporting weapons to Israel.
The action followed public disclosures about the ship’s contents, prompting immediate demonstrations near the port. Protesters, including local residents and dockworkers, rallied under slogans calling for humanity, peace, and the prevention of war.
As a result of the protests, the ship was unloaded of its weapons cargo and departed the port empty.
It is worth noting that the vessel was reportedly carrying various military artillery and armored equipment. Following the unloading, several Italian activists hailed the event as a major victory for public will and described it as a powerful anti-war message to the world
