Nasim, a private and local radio station operating in Daikundi and Bamyan provinces, has ceased broadcasting after 13 years of activity due to increasing pressure and censorship from the Taliban.
A few days ago, the Taliban’s intelligence agency detained the station’s local director and two journalists in Daikundi province. Although they were later released, five days after their detention, Nasim Radio announced its decision to suspend operations. In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the station said it would resume broadcasting once conditions improve.
It is worth noting that UNAMA, in its latest quarterly report, also stated that private media outlets in Afghanistan are facing growing restrictions and heightened censorship under Taliban rule.
