On Friday, the anti-Taliban group known as the Afghanistan Freedom Front issued a statement claiming responsibility for an attack carried out Thursday evening, August 13, in the Deh Mazang area of Kabul’s Fourth Police District. According to the statement, the group targeted a Taliban security checkpoint, killing two Taliban members and injuring two others.
The checkpoint had reportedly been established by the Taliban in preparation for August 14, which they commemorate as the day of the republic’s collapse.
As of now, Taliban security authorities have not commented on the incident.
