Human Rights Watch Urges Global Community to Halt Deportations of Afghan Refugees

On the occasion of the fourth anniversary of Kabul’s fall, Human Rights Watch has called on the international community to stop deporting refugees to Afghanistan.
Fereshta Abbasi, a researcher with Human Rights Watch’s Afghanistan division, stated that the country has been facing a humanitarian crisis since the return of Taliban rule, and its people are living under extremely difficult conditions.
According to her, by the end of this year, more than half of Afghanistan’s population will face food insecurity.
She added that deported refugees are returning to a country plagued by high unemployment, a fragile healthcare system, and a severe shortage of humanitarian aid.
