UN Refugee Agency: Funding for Returnees to Afghanistan at Risk of Depletion

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has stated that while it continues to provide emergency assistance to Afghan returnees, its financial resources are at risk of running out.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the agency said that families returning to Afghanistan from Iran and Pakistan are facing severe hardships and an uncertain future.
UNHCR added that Afghanistan remains gripped by major economic and humanitarian crises, and returnees are confronting serious challenges due to unemployment, poverty, and limited access to basic services.
The UN refugee agency has called on the international community to urgently mobilize support for Afghan refugees, so that it can continue assisting vulnerable families and provide timely aid.
