On Sunday, August 17, thousands of people held demonstrations in 300 different locations across Israel, including the cities of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa, calling for an end to the ongoing war.
The protests were led by individuals whose family members have been detained by Hamas. Clashes erupted between police and civilians during the demonstrations, resulting in the arrest of 38 people by security forces.
Protesters demanded the release of detainees and an immediate cessation of hostilities. However, the Israeli government stated that it is preparing for a new military operation in Gaza and is considering a prolonged conflict.
It is worth noting that similar large-scale public protests have previously taken place in Israel calling for an end to the war, but Israeli authorities have yet to heed the voices of their citizens and continue to prioritize the continuation of military operations.
